I tend to wait a ridiculous amount of time (about 3 hours) before conceding that I'm not going to sleep without the help of meds. (Psych: Why?! Why do you do that?! Me: Because I want to believe it'll happen! Lol.)

It is exceedingly rare for me to get up hoping to get tired again, because that just doesn't happen. Neither do I get up to start day after the pre-sleep wait time, because then I'd really get no sleep(!) Which would be a very bad thing...
I'm sorry...I mean how long do you lie there when you first go to bed...before giving in and getting up to read or something...they say to get up if you can't sleep so that your brain makes the bed/sleep connection...

I'm with you but I thought an hour was a lot....three hours! I'm impressed.

I feel like there's a window of opportunity that I will miss if I get up :-/

It's just so difficult to relax when all of the anxieties start a party....
