I usually worry a lot about the future and how I'm almost 30 now and if I deserve to start going back to school to pick myself a new career and if I'm too old to get a new career and If I will get certain illnesses or if my relatives will . . . that kind of thing.

I know how you feel... most of the people my age (I'm 27) that I know have degrees already and are in careers... those still in school are working towards their PhDs. It was scary to go back to school for me, I'm only taking one class this semester but I am a good 8 or 9 years older than the rest of the class. Next semester I transfer as a junior to a university that I actually had to leave back in '99 because of mental health issues. Thing is, even though part of me is embarrassed, part of me is proud because even though it may be late, I'm doing it. Actually, I found out recently, my pdoc was also 27 when she went back to school. She double majored in chem and bio and then went to med school. My point is, if you want to, go back to school! Make a better life for yourself!!! You can do it!!! And one cool thing... sometimes the professors actually seem to have more respect for you when you are older (at least that's what I've noticed and heard). You get more attention. Good luck and remember... better late than never!!!
