My mother is in end-stage alcoholism. Her mental health has severely deteriorated and is now in the first stages of alcohol induced dementia. And that is apart from being depressed. She has gone from being a strong woman to a needy, clingy child. She doesn't remember much of anything from day to day. And I've watched her lose basic words from her vocabulary. It is like a light just went out. Alcohol has ruined my mother - not only physically, but mentally as well.
