Try taking a highly absorbable magnesium like magnesium chloride, citrate or malate along with calcium, vitamin D3 and K. DON'T take cheap magnesium oxide as the body can't absorb it so all it does is cause raging diarrhea.

Meds block the body's ability to utilize magnesium, and low magnesium levels cause insomnia. I was where you are for about 10 years due to low magnesium levels along with the fact that my body doesn't hold on to it. Once I got adequate amounts of magnesium, my insomnia improved to the point where I now sleep through the night at least half the time. I do have other health issues that have sleep disturbance as a key feature so getting enough sleep is huge in my life, and magnesium has been a lifesaver.

An easy way to get magnesium is to soak in epsom salts as it's magnesium sulfate. You need to soak for a good 20 minutes with a couple of cups of epsom salts. You'll be amazed at how it will relax you. Be sure and take the calcium and vitamins D3 and K as they work together.

Your hearing sensitivity could be related to low magnesium as light sensitivity is a sign of magnesium deficiency.

Here's a good article listing the symptoms of magnesium deficiency:
