My therapist is into bioenergetics ( body work). She believes that our bodies hold onto stress caused by every day challenges and the deeply rooted issues caused by traumatic events in our lives. Recently she wanted me to try TRE or traumatic Release Exercises . The way it works is you engage in a series of exercises that will eventually cause tremors or shaking. These tremors are supposed to help the body rid itself of the stress that we hold.
When I engaged in TRE ( with my therapist) I only had mild tremors during some of the exercises. The way this is supposed to work is after you complete the series of Exercises you lay there and your body tremors. Many people report that they feel good, relaxed during the tremors.
I didn't experience these tremors, again.. just minimal shaking during the exercises. Lord knows I have suffered enough traumatic events as a child and teen... so I'm wondering if any of you have experienced TRE, did it help? I told my therapist that I felt inadequate that it didn't work for me. I will add that this was the first time I tried it so maybe it will take more than once to see results..
