It took 6 months from the court date to get the letter say I was approved. The whole process took about two and a half years.
I started the process on my own and then got an attorney. I had very good records. My doctors did not give good records. Most of them were state funded. You get what you pay for, and they were free. But my second attorney was a ball of fire. She believed in me. She fought for me. I also studied up on what to say in court and what not to say. I did my homework. I got my paperwork in on time whenever it was asked throughout this process. I stayed organized and on top of things. However, the victory is bittersweet. I did not know I would not qualify for SSDI because I had not worked full-time at least 5 of the last 10 years. So I was given SSI. The problem is I have slightly too much money to qualify for back pay and current pay. I'm very upset. I just can't win.
