The Skeezyks also has tinnitus. A few years ago, I had an ear tube put in to drain an infection that, in fact, was never actually there (misdiagnosis.) The ear tube caused my tinnitus to explode! It sounded like I had a freight train running through my head 24/7!

I went in to see my pdoc sobbing (whom I hadn't needed to see in a while.) He put me on Klonopin & that brought the noise back down to a tolerable level. A while later I was able to get in to see an ENT doctor who specialized in treating tinnitus. He did something called a "perfusion", which involved injecting some medication into the ear. He was able to administer it through the ear tube. Afterward he removed the ear tube & the level of tinnitus I experience has remained at a manageable level since then. I was also able to get off of the Klonopin. But the whole thing was a frightening experience. I still don't know if it was the "perfusion" that saved me or if it was simply getting rid of the ear tube.
