<font color="blue">This year the USA changed
when it changed to DST (daylight savings time.) It was one week earlier in March, and is four weeks longer than before. This means the date/time stamp on your computer might be off for those 4 weeks (from when DST used toend to November 4th when the USA comes off DST and goes back to Standard time.)
This conversation at PC began in another thread regarding when the tasks are done with the server here, causing slowdowns.
Here is a link to Microsoft's help with time/date change. It provides the download for updating your computer.
http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst If you have Vista, or automatic updates, you probably don't need to do this and won't have an issue.
(For those trying to compute the slowdown tasks here:
DocJohn is in the EST. He has noted in the other thread the times of the tasks that slowdown the site. That means that 12:30am EST
will be 5:30 am UTC and in the UK. The 2:15 am EST
will be 7:15 am UTC and in the UK. The 5:00 am EST
will be 10:00 am UTC and in the UK.)
UTC = Universal Time Coordinate it is/used to be called GMT (Greenwich Meantime) and IS "0" hour in the world.
Eastern Standard Time (EST) is 5 hours behind the UTC. (EDST, Eastern Daylight Savings Time, is 4 hours behind.)
The United Kingdom (UK) is on British Summer Time (BST)(which is an hour ahead of UTC/GMT)
until: Sunday 28 October 2007 01:00 GMT So you will be off your time change before we will.
LOL I always wondered when there was a 6 hour difference!
For those in the USA, the worst that can happen if you don't update, is that for those 4 weeks your calendar/clock will be off.
Hope this helps those of you with questions. (And doesn't create any confusion.)
