The Risperdal didn't, no. The clomipramine did. At least until I started taking imipramine, then my brain got used to it and the clomipramine didn't work any more. I would be wary of going on antipsychotics for OCD, you might end up dependent on them and developing psychosis if you try to come off them. It happened to me. Risperdal is one so think about it before you continue taking it. I now have a diagnosis of schizophrenia as a result and OCD and schizophrenia have similarities so it is easy for a doctor to switch diagnoses. They would rather do that than admit the drugs can cause a change in brain chemistry that can make you dependent on them. It's all about money with psychiatrists and nothing to do with helping a person. I would remember that when they are prescribing you drugs. It is very easy to become dependent on a drug. You should try and get therapy of some sort to find out what caused the OCD and work on that. You might not need drugs at all if you do that. Mindfulness is good for OCD too. I have been told carrying out mindfulness for 20 minutes a day can stop OCD. Try all other options before you settle for medication. Be very wary of taking antipsychotics or you could end up with a schizophrenia diagnosis.
