I was 'trained' to be quiet as a baby. But ever since I can remember, I was a very sensitive child. I used books and TV as ways to escape and block out other stimuli. Once my mind got into a plot, I could ignore all the other noise, sound, movement around me. I have also always been VERY sensitive to people's comments, perceived judgments, hurts, etc. I was shamed for that in my home. I learned to internalize a lot of my sensitivities, but even so I could be volatile (screaming, crying, highly reactive) at home around my siblings who knew how to push my buttons & enjoyed it.
