Those are some pretty s***ty people to make up a rumor like that. Including the mutual acquaintance who continued it by telling you. Sorry your ex is caught up in that kinda bs. It's sad that people would take something so serious that he deals with so lightly as to spread a rumor like that. Sorry you had to be on the receiving end of such a panic inducing phone call.
