a keurig is terrible for the environment (think about all those plastic cups left over).

My advice if she is concerned about fragility and breakage is to find a maker with a stainless steel urn. There are several great manufacturers out there. Another option is a stainless steel 'french press' (Bodum is a brand and IKEA has a very good one for cheap while you can get them at Starbucks too).

French presses make the best coffee too and are very friendly for the environment.

I travel and camp with my french press on account of the fact it is unbreakable.
