I love seeing the little kiddies come to my door, all dressed up as fairy princesses and Disney characters. It brings me back to my youth and how I adored trick or treating.

It's, however, when the 15-16 year olds come along, hardly dressed up at all in fact, that I draw the line, turn off my lights, and recede to my bedroom and finish off what's left of the candy myself. This happens around 9:00 or so. Our neighborhood has an HOA that issues a suggested cutoff time and/or curfew for such purposes, as well as for safety.

Besides, most little kids are usually done with their trick or treating and at home, either in bed or tallying their haul by 9:00. It's the older kids, who may or may not be up to mischief and mayhem, that are mostly out past 9.
