I read a very interesting case study about a person who came to a therapist and told them she planned to commit suicide and wanted someone to talk it through with before she inevitably ended her life. The therapist said they would see their job as preventing her from commiting suicide and wouldn't work with the client on the terms of supporting the choice to commit suicide. In the event, she committed suicide without receiving any support or a place to share her final thoughts and feelings.
While I see it's a matter of personal ethics, I think it's really sad this person wasn't give a space to have human emotional contact with another person before she died.
