geesh! tryin to remember back when I was turning 18. I do remember not being to thrilled about having birthdays either because I always had to celebrate it with my sister cuz hers is two days after mine. Well then I got married and my husband could never remember my birthday but could remember my sisters grrrrrr!!!! That added fuel to the fire so to speek (He knew my sister longer cuz she is his best friends wife). My feelings changed when I rememberd how my little brother would always wake everyone up in the house and tell us it was his birthday. I know I thaught he was kinda strange at the time but at that point of remembering back I saw the joy that was on his face and like a song in his heart he just danced around LOL!!!!. It dawned on me that I could do the same and have that same joy in reminding people it's my birthday too and you know it felt kind of weird at first but it was wonderful. I still tell people it's my birthday with that same goofy smile my brother had and dance around singing happy birthday to me and I'm 45 (well, part of me is anyway). LOL!!!! Haven't had a bad birthday since. I hope one day you will celebrate you and feel that joy too.
