This^. Using the T as a compass--not to find "true North"--but rather to find whether North exists relative to where I am, strikes me as the answer these questions often represent. And the diminished emotional entanglement can make it a safer space in which to ask. And maybe the asking, more than the answer, helps to diminish the perceived need for the action.
