In the neighborhood I practically grew up on, there was a house where a completely blind old lady lived with some family. When it came time to trick or treat, and we came to this house where the blind lady lived, you were required to walk into the house, into their somewhat dimly lit living room, where the blind lady was sitting in an arm chair with a bag of apples. She then reached out and put an apple into your own bag.
For some reason, this house scared me. I guess seeing a blind lady reach out and feel for your bag with her hands and place in apple inside was kind of intimidating to a 6 year old me. Of course, now that I'm older, and wiser, such a fear seems silly, but I'll always remember trick or treating at that house.
