Hmm... I wonder if noise cancelling headphone would work for fireworks? I *thought* (but I could be wrong) that they were better for continuous noises... like the jets on an airplane, rather than things that happened suddenly. I could be wrong.

I had a pair once, but I returned them. They didn't seem to do much for me. I use earplugs around the house instead - most often when the landscapers are outside my windows with leaf blowers, which are really loud. The ear plugs aren't perfect, you can still hear the noise, but they definitely reduce it to a tolerable level for me.
