Maybe make a list of things you want to remember about each day, and stick it somewhere you'll be sure to see it daily to remind you. Then you can record them in your journal if you see fit to.

1 of the things I need to remember daily is to write in my journal

(hah when I started doing it in 2010, I did it all the time)
