I liked both Driven to Distraction and Delivered from Distraction as intro books. I didn't like that they said things like "if you have ADD you might not be able to read this book all the way through --- I am really wary of stereotypes-- but I used them as references and read the parts that were relevant. There were also some really comforting parts both about what the diagnosis meant and about meds. I haven't read a lot of "Attention Deficit Disorder: The Unfocused Mind in Children and Adults" by Thomas Brown, but I REALLY liked what I did read because it's very factual and really gets into the science in an understandable way, which I found a bunch of the books were missing.
