Do I understand this that your name was never on the house? In the laws here that would not be considered marital property. Nether would it be herre if it was shown you had made no payments or investment into it. Your name has to be on things for a division of those assets to be made.
I'm pretty sure most lawyers provide a free consultation. It would be wise I think to see another for their own opinion. In order to make the most use of their time take with you as much documentation as you have.
Also, is your marriage a common law relationship? Rules differ from place to place when it comes to time cohabitating and entitlements within the relationship. In some places while the union is legal it has limitations (I really got kicked in the teeth with respect to this despite 16 years together).
