IMHO.<---see what I did there. Humility can come from many places besides understanding and loving all people. I do understand and love all people in a general way. I'm also highly aware of their design flaws and tendency towards psychological torture and brutality. It can be a pretty terrifying word if you get too many glimpses and encounters into the dark side of life. Some people are unimaginable. Sorry if I went off topic.
Back to topic. When pondering the meaning of humility, the phrase "never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes" comes to mind for me. It's a reminder that we are who we are because of our experiences and not everyone gets a fair shake. Another phrase I heard recently that stuck with me is "some people were born on third base but always think they hit a triple....that would be the opposite of humility.
