Nice Shy. I think 21 hours is a good starting point. I really think this is the place for you. I am excited for you, my friend! Working is way better than being broke!

The important thing in retail is to show up for your scheduled shift on time - maybe even 5 mins early every day and do your assignments with a good attitude.

There's always drama and inter-personal weirdness in retail and most work places that can be easy to get sucked into. I always had to do my best to recognize this pitfall early and just keep my head up, my rose colored glasses on tight, and just do my work.

Demonstrating that you are valuable means months and months of consistent no nonsense hard work. Once you are well established, you will get permanent and maybe even full time. After a couple of years, supervisor and management might be opportunities that blossom from this part time seasonal job.

For now, just be mindful of the present and doing your best to show your work ethics. Management will really value you if you steer clear of the drama and just get it done everyday. If you are a chatty cathy or always asking questions about the rules or when your break is or tattling on co-workers, you won't be as valuable as the friendly but reserved employees who are there to work.

Good luck and let me know if I can help.
