Have you or anyone you know had dealings with VAC? Have you applied for Disability Benefits and how successful was it?

Some one I know at VAC has suggested I apply. They can't tell me about the process though only that my disability must have been caused or aggravated by my military service and have a psychiatrist sign off. I'm anxious about the entire process. I am Bipolar, which I probably have been all my life but it isn't a leap to conclude my service has contributed to my anxiety, depression, and suicide ideation. Basically I have been unable to reasonably function since my release (maintaining jobs and relationships just two examples). PTSD isn't a big leap. . And so, I find myself quite terrified about taking this on. I know it shouldn't be the ordeal I am making it out to be.

I'm hoping to find other Canadian Veteran's who are experiencing mental illness caused or aggravated by their military service. I guess what I am really looking for is someone to hold my hand through the application process for benefits.
