I hope you're feeling better by now. Dealing with vertigo sounds awful, is it an ongoing thing? *hugs*

I don't feel qualified to really comment on the hours, since I assume the requirements for the type of job that you're working towards are different than what I'm used to (I'm in a professional field, but I don't manage people and am not really on track for that). I do think that it's smart to try to find some kind of balance - I'd go crazy if the expectation was that I worked 60 hours, all the time, forever. I don't think I could do that... you need time to have a life outside of work!

Awww... this makes me sad! It sounds like you're beating yourself up over taking time off (either the event you skipped the night before, or missing work because of the vertigo). I don't think that's fair, and I think that you might be judging yourself more harshly than others are.

Getting sick, getting vertigo - isn't your fault. I assume that, if it's an ongoing thing, you're seeking treatment? Nobody wants to be sick... if you could snap your fingers and make the vertigo disappear, I'm sure you would (and that you'd be right back at work).

How do you feel when your co-workers are out sick? Does it bother you to the same degree? How do others react?

I hope you can give yourself a little bit of slack over missing work, and that you're feeling better (if not already, then soon!).
