The US political system doesn't work. Brexit isn't put on ice. Parliament just has to vote on it. Where Congress or the Supreme Court in the US would never allow anything constitutional (and most of the time nothing at all) to change, much like how the European Constitution was rejected in two national referendums but still forced upon all the Union states, Parliament will vote for Brexit by a very large majority because a third party or a democratically elected party leader of one of the established parties (there are no superdelegates; one man, one vote) could actually bring about change and they could leave their jobs. Big federal governments don't care about democracy. Simply because they are in some isolated, distant capital swarmed with lobbyists.

The US election made clear this disconnect and that people are willing to vote for anyone just to show those in federal government that they should listen to the people. Racists, mysogynists, narcissists. Anything to make those that live in a nearly or maybe completely impenetrable bubble aware of who they're supposed to serve.
