Are you taking anything for your depression?

It sounds to me like you have all the symptoms of low dopamine and opioid neurotransmitters in your brain. Please check out this brain function questionnaire and see if you don't recognize yourself:

I believe that those of us with mood disorders, depression, anxiety and similar disorders aren't able to produce adequate neurotransmitters to keep us feeling happy and productive without taking supplements in the form of amino acids that are used by the brain to produce the needed neurotransmitters. It's like an insulin dependent diabetic who needs insulin to keep their blood sugar stable.

I've been using amino acids and the mineral supplement lithium orotate to control my bipolar 2 for 9+ years now with amazing success! I was on meds for 13+ years prior to that with limited success, and a host of nasty side-effects that finally forced me to go off them. I wish you could see the difference in my mood from when I was on meds, and just barely functioning to now where I'm actually happy and feel like my life is worth living again. There is not comparison, and I credit it all to giving my brain those nutrients it needs to be able to produce the neurotransmitters that it needs to function. My situation isn't anything special--there are other threads where people are trying amino acids and doing well. This is the wave of the future in the treatment of mood disorders and anxiety.

Here are some articles on the subject that explain it further:
