Unfortunately, "normal" people just don't understand what a person with depression (or any mental illness for that matter) is going through. Even with this, that comment was mean and totally uncalled for

Don't listen to these people, you're a very strong person. And the fact that you're still here, fighting, proves it.
Even so, I understand if you were hurt by those comments
