And knowing that about you, I can accept and work with that.
When I'm into codependency, my caring about other people is also selfish, although it doesn't seem that way and is, I believe, in some ways very genuine. It's just that it benefits me to seem and feel like a caring person, which is a very selfish motive, even though for a long time that was mostly unconscious.
