Hi everybody.

I'm new to this forum so this is my first post. I'm a psychotherapist myself and I'm kind of shocked reading how badly so many of you have been treated by your therapists. As someone said before, it's healthy to allow and aknowledge any emotions that appear in the relationship and talk openly about anything to create a good, strong and protective relationship. However, the therapist has to know how to handle his/her own emotions in order to not damage the client, since a therapist has to focus on the clients needs and avoid retraumatizing behaviours such as getting mad at the client.

This is why in my opinion every therapist needs to be in therapy before starting to work with patients, in order to avoid causing damage to them or him/herself.
