Jan, I have no helpful advice for dealing with ignorant people. I get so sick of people who don't get it. I used to be friends with a woman who would go on about how unfair it was that I had fibro. She would insist that there had to be something the doctors could do. I repeatedly asked her to please not go on about how unfair it was because I work hard to fight having that kind of mindset. It isn't fair, but focusing on that ain't gonna help. Heck, that kind of thinking just makes me more miserable. She'd also go on about there had to be some medicine I could take to make it "all better." I patiently explained that I'd tried the one med I could take (Lyrica) and could not tolerate the side effects. Told her that I was not able to function if I took pain meds. I finally reached a point that I bluntly told her I didn't want to talk about it anymore.
Cake, I read your comments about pushing until you crashed and wonder if I'm headed that direction.
