Yes actually, I think about identity a lot. I think I might actually be having a strange identity crisis thing, where I am really confused over who I am as a person. I'm trying to figure out parts of my personality and I find that they contradict each other and are very conflicted, however they somehow work.
They are aspects of my personality I hate, and bits that I like.

In regards to what you said, yes, identity is important but I don't think that it is the source of all your traits, such as shyness. That would be your personality.
Identity is who you are. Personality is what you are, it makes up your traits and qualities.
I don't think that getting rid of your identity is a good idea, that would work, if you want to change one thing about yourself. I think that if there is something you want to change, focus on that one thing and make that your target, what you want to change. Don't try to 'erase' everything else. That would make you a completely different person- with completely different 'flaws/quirks'.

Well, this is my own interpretation.
I hope what I said made at least a little sense, haha. I'm not good at explaining.
