so the united states of tara.. not what we thought at all
we thought like friends/ everybody loves raymond, but actually the setup of the show reminds us of the supranoes (you know what we mean by that?)
more like an american drama series than a commedy
we like the show though, we've had quite a few laughs
we don't like buck (maybe because we're all female, or maybe because we never had a father figure in our lives). either way, we don't like him.
still on series 1
anyone want to discuss tara?

I did not watch much of it, I did not like the fact that they were mocking, making fun of mental illness, I prefer watching movies that work towards stopping the stereotyping, stigmatizing of mental illness and those that are mentally ill.
work related this tv series also caused many problems for me and those I work with, not only having people who did not have the disorder perpetrating what they saw in the tv shows and those with the disorder feeling angry and like they needed to be like the tv show or that others did not believe they had the disorder because they were not like the show, and some felt they were doing some thing wrong if their problems could not be solved in one or two episodes in the same ways the show very easily solved the problems. ... there were even a few who committed suicide in my location because they were afraid people saw them the way the tv show was over dramatizing, stigmatizing and mocking what people with DID go through.
my point I will never watch this show again and I do not recommend it to those in my own location who ask me about it.
