Where I live, self-injury doesn't get you admitted unless it's life threatening.

Generally you need to be suicidal and/or homicidal, and have a plan that you would go through with.

That being said, I'm sure exceptions have been made. Every case is different but generally common suicidal thoughts of "I wish I weren't here" and "I'd be better off dead" WITHOUT a plan, won't get you admitted.
