Could you see the relevant tutors/ lecturers in their office hours? They might be able to explain things then, or give you links to books, articles etc which might help you. Or you could email them and say you're having trouble. You could also have a chat with your personal tutor, if you have them in Scotland - they might be able to advise you on how your day is structured, etc. Could you also chat with your friends and get them to explain what has been going on in class? It would be a good revision session for them
