I don't know when the lecturers are actually in their rooms (the Fluid Mechanics lecturer said he was very rarely in his), but that could be worth a shot. I emailed the Materials lecturer today, but haven't heard back from her yet. We have an adviser of studies, is that the same as a personal tutor? Didn't see my friends today - we had the day off - but I can ask them tomorrow, assuming they don't mind me talking about work through lunch.
