One of my neighbors is an older woman who was widowed two years ago. She is in her mid-70s but still works. She and her husband were very kind to us. We exchanged gifts at Christmas up until about 3 years ago.

I have continued to give gifts, but I am not sure I should. I've continued because her birthday is Christmas Day. She has no family in the area and two of her closest friends have passed away in the past few years.

But if she's not reciprocating in any way, doesn't that mean I should stop?
