I was okay with just a pill holder for each day which wasn't too complicated. My husband, on the other hand, has trouble keeping straight which pills to take at what point in the day (he has lots of meds for a medical issues besides some psych meds), so he has a pill box for each day of the week that is divided into morning, noon, supper, and bedtime. There is a separate box for each day of the week, so he fills the whole week on Saturday nights, figures out what meds he needs to call in then which gives him plenty of time for refills before he fills the tray the next Saturday. He also has alarms set on his phone to remind him to take his meds throughout the day.

After my sister had her bone marrow transplant, she was on something like 30 pills a day. They literally gave her a fishing tackle box because standard sized pill boxes weren't nearly large enough.
