I would invite him over and here's why: New Year's dates are pricey. If you wait for him to ask, he may not because it is expected he take you somewhere on New Year's that ends up being expensive and crowded. So, especially that this would only be your second date, he probably won't ask.

I see nothing wrong with you inviting him over. It's not going to be for sex. Just a nice new year's celebration and dinner, which you are reciprocating, as he picked up the tab last meal. It also makes you look like a nice girl who lives with her parents and cooks and is gracious and likes to entertain---marriage material!

Now I have to make my family dinner like a good wife and mom... lol
