It really hard to deal with family mental health issues. I get treatment and take meds for bipolar. According to my family I'm lazy and taking the easy way out. My mom is alcoholic and blames it on her kids. I have 5 brothers and sisters and every one of them has MI and substance abuse problems. I don't know how old you are or if you live with your mother. So I don't know what to tell you about avoiding her. But it's absolutely NOT your fault she's mentally ill. You can not make her admit she has a problem or make her get help. The most important thing that you can do is take care of yourself and continue to get the help you need.
