That's (arguably) just because they may appear the same. Delusional beliefs may be seen as unusual beliefs that are consistent over time. Goal-directed behaviour and interests may be seen as a consistent and not directly useful preoccupation.
ASD is also a safe choice because no meds "have" to be prescribed.
