I think inquiring and re-examining about the BPD is merited.

Christina's right. And it doesn't just go for BP of course -- the drinking isn't helpful in trying to gain stability for BPD either. But the evidence that you didn't stabilize when off it for so long seems telling.

Also considering your previous dx of BPD over far more thorough assessment...

It may well be that approaching treatment from a BPD angle would be more effective for stability. That doesn't eliminate the drinking issue of course, but gaining stability could well help with the urge to do that. They'd go hand in hand.

(It is possible to have both of course, just something worth investigating, imo.)
