For me it's just a light and less abstract, more personal (i.e. involving relations with people and personality) version of schizoaffective disorder (BP type), which I have as well.

It's more chronically psychotic (however mildly) than BP. It's especially very different from BP2 (without mixed or clear, inconguently psychotic features).

Instead of three types of mental state there are like 4, where the two more normal states are very changeable (i.e. there are things that easily cause a switch from one to the other and one state can cause the other very quickly causing enormous confusion). There is no normal state, causing a feeling of emptiness and of lacking one identity.

Mania kills cells. Brain cells die. Memories become more reduced conceptually, making more efficient use of limited means. Memories shape our reality. Our memories are more or less split in two by abstractions, conceptual reductions. Mood states with memories, concepts, attached. Memories of pain and those of joy. It causes instability, changeability. Fearing that will leave an emptiness between pain and joy and a greater divide.
