By the way, I do live with schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, and OCD. I take seven different prescriptions on a daily basis.

I understand what you mean when, as I put it, schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia are not in vogue as far as the public testimonials and even advertisements are concerned. There are ads for depression and bipolar medications on a frequent basis aired on TV.

As far as police are concerned, in my immediate neighborhood there was a poor guy shot to death in the parking lot in front of a K-Mart store. They said he had a "machete" and stole some jewelry in the store. The police KNEW he was suffering from a severe mental illness since they had many other interactions with him before that incident. Instead of disabling his arms or legs to stop him from approaching the police, they shot him something like 15 to 20 times. I can't recall how far the court cases this man's estate and family went, but I am sure it went at least to the State Supreme Court. Of course, with all of these lawsuits, there was a settlement, as far as I remember. It seems to me the local police force and the local government had bought their way out of a potentially embarrassing, and costly, court case.

As many of you know, this is only one isolated incident. If you are interested, I follow Pete Earley's website, as well as his Facebook posts. Mr. Earley was, or is, a journalist for the Washington Post, as well as an author of several books. When his son became stricken with a mental illness, he became a strong, vocal advocate for mental health consumers and mental health causes. You can access his website by googling Pete Earley (Business).

Again, I hope this information was helpful to all of you.
Thanks for this!
