I like to take a walk outside. I find the cold temperatures really calming, and taking deep breaths of that cold air helps too.
It's been like 0-10F here with windchill, so it's kinda cold, but I still go out anyway sometimes. It depends on how much you can tolerate the cold, though.
I also like to talk to people about my anxiety. Just "letting it out" is very therapuetic for me. I can't journal either because it's triggering for me.
Another thing that helps me is acceptance and letting yourself know everything will be okay, no matter the outcome.. For example, when I used to take tests in school, I would sometimes freak out that maybe I didn't do well, and that I was going to fail, etc.. Then I'd try to tell myself, "I'm anxious and it's okay to be anxious, but whatever happened, happened. I can't change the past. If things don't turn out okay, I still have the opportunity to make things right." That can help with your anxiety about waiting for disability.
Edit: not that you don't accept your anxiety already, but i think you know what I'm getting at
