What's sad about that? Some of my nicest lunches with a friend have been pretty much like this. Not everybody likes chit-chat.
So many people have 'friends' because of motives other than genuinely they just like that person and want to be with them. Their friends are for the purpose of their own gain, business contacts. I have a really hard time with that, and that is why my business, which is a people service business, isn't thriving. I just refuse to be, what I feel, is a user.

Why bother going to lunch with someone only to talk with others on your cell phones? That is so rude. If I am with a person who keeps going on their phone, I won't see them again.
