This year some of us (mostly one of us) bought little presents for some others. I think it is that what made it meaningful for us. They were gifts chosen and given for another part of self. To give to a part of self, rather than for self. Ifyouknowwhaddeyemean.
So... this one bought some aromatherapy oil for another. The one who bought it does not like aromatherapy and does not believe that it can do what is claimed. But the one she bought it for does. And it was received with thanks.
One bought some awesome putty stuff (crazy Aarons thinking putty) for another, because she knew the other would love it.
They were all little gifts, but meaningful gifts, given with thought and love for the others. I think it is that which makes them special for us.

We find big presents not very satisfying because they usually suit some but not others. Little more personal gifts tend to help us feel more connected, more accepting and more supportive of one another. Some other gifts we gave each others are - a chrystal, a coffee mug, a ring, one girly kid part (overall we are not very girly!) got nail polish, little stuff like that.
