My regular doctor is the one who sent a referral off to the hospital to see a specialist. He's sent it off twice now actually and stated it was urgent (though according to the woman at the hospital I need to have patience because 'we've got people here who have cancer'). Thanks lady, I wasn't trying to put myself on a pedestal above cancer patients, I would just like to know why I **** blood 7 times yesterday and had to take a moment to get to my front door and sat for 5 minutes cussing every word under the sun because I felt like I was getting stabbed from the inside.

If I get told I've got to wait another 6 months I might just fork out a few hundred dollars for the colonoscopy.

Get a colonoscopy as soon as possible even if you yourself have to pay. Your symptoms are indication that you should not wait. I don't mean to scare you but the sooner you get in the better off you will be...no matter what. I feel someone really needs to tell you this isn't a time to fool around. Don't wait. Be pro-active. I wish I had told my sister this when she complained of rectal bleeding. She did not have a colonoscopy. Fast forward ten years. She's dead from colon cancer. I am so sorry to be blunt but I feel you need to be told the life you save could be your own. Good luck. Pick up the phone and make an appointment for a colonscopy. NOW.
