My Aunt always says, "If you don't have trust, you don't have anything." She's been in a happy marriage for forty years.

But I married my husband not entirely trusting him. He lies when it's convenient for him, to avoid conflict. I suspect he cheated on me, at least once. He handles all the money, and while I trust him to take care of us, I don't entirely trust what he does with money.

It would be wonderful to trust the person you're with. Sounds like a non-existent paradise to me though! But it does exist.
