I think that perhaps you are afraid and that is why you are trying to self-diagnose. And believe me, I understand, and I think that is a very normal reaction. However, dear friend, I would like to tell you something. If what you have is serious the sooner you get in for tests the better chances for a positive outcome. I am going to once again be very blunt. If caught early, the treatment for colon cancer has a very high success rate. That is the best news about this type of cancer. My sister had early symptoms such as bleeding but not much else. She also had lupus and so was focused more on that. If I knew then what I know now I would have bodily carried her in for a colonoscopy. Her colon cancer did not show up for ten more years but she never in that time had a colonoscopy. And she was a nurse! It was a terrible lack of responsibility on her part and as a result our family lost her early and we are still grieving.
I don't know about your health care system. Stay an on the waiting list and also become a squeaky wheel. Get on the phone and call whoever you can and relay information about the bleeding. Please remember that you are not a doctor and cannot self-diagnose.
I think what you are missing is someone in your life to stay with you on this and make sure you get in for a colonoscopy as soon as possible. I am so glad you have come to Psych Central for support.
Please find out what you can do to define your situation as URGENT. You need to get in for a colonoscopy as soon as possible.
Please stay on this. I will check back with you.
